OUR SAYULITA RETREAT

 Join us in Sayulita for either a personalised public or private retreat in blissful surroundings. After living here we have sussed out the good, the bad and the ugly and we’re passing on the best. Whether you’re after an action-packed week of surf, yoga and adventures to Sayulita’s special spots with your girlfriends or a place for the kids to stay busy outdoors while you lounge by the pool and have some “me time”, we’ve got you covered.

SURF

Sayulita has long been known as a surf town because of its consistent, mellow waves and year-round warm water, making it an ideal location for beginner to intermediate surfers and longboarders. To the south end of the beach is the beach break which is great for surfers seeking smaller waves. At the centre of the beach and to the north end of the beach are the reef waves. The waves here are a little bit larger but still mellow. The first day includes a lesson in apnea training (learning how to hold your breath under water) to give you increased confidence in all areas of the ocean. On your final surf session of the retreat we will head to one of our more remote surf spots. The view you get sitting out on your board is not one to be missed! All surfing in Sayulita is taught by the Stalla Surf Centre, owned by Fernanda Stalla, National Champion and SUP Race World Champion. We have no doubt that your surfing will noticeably be elevated to the next level by the end of the week.

YOGA

On this week-long retreat expect to deepen your asana (physical yoga) practice. Each morning we will begin the day with an invigorating vinyasa yoga flow, you can expect inspiring and uplifting classes which will test your strength, build on your alignment and allow you to have fun whilst experimenting with new postures. Throughout the week we will build upon the practice so ensure that you are feeling stretched, lengthened, twisted, inverted and grounded. The yoga classes throughout the week will be mindfully planned to compliment the surfing, hiking and paddle boarding which you will also enjoy.  We will wind down each evening with a gentle yin or restorative yoga class so that you can rest deeply and peacefully every night.  Our retreat is open to everyone and anyone, no matter you experience or knowledge of yoga and surfing, we welcome you with open arms.

FOOD

A Yantara Retreat would not be complete without a delicious, colourful and nourishing menu. In line with the yoga tradition of ahimsa (non-violence) all of the food which we will serve you will be vegetarian. We are both passionate about having a healthy, non-diet approach to nutritious food so trust us, you won’t go hungry as we offer you everything from:  Buffet breakfasts featuring fresh juices, seasonal fruits, homemade granola, a range of yoghurts and warm dishes. Indulgent and nutritious group dinners with dishes including lentils dahl, copious amounts of guacamole, spicy bean tacos, black bean, tofu and avocado rice bowls and many many more dishes.  The sweet smell of freshly baked cakes will welcome you back each afternoon as we gather around for teas and relax after a day of stretching and playing in the waves.

ACTIVITIES

Sayulita has many different activities to offer and we’ve done our best to select the ones that you can’t possibly miss. Alongside a week of surf and yoga, our favourite ways to spend our evenings include a cruisy sunset paddleboard session to a cliff jumping spot, a beach yoga session or hiking up to some amazing viewpoints. There’s always time to lie in a hammock or enjoy your book on one of Sayulita’s many beautiful beaches.
